Overview

This three-day course will provide the participants with a comprehensive understanding and valuable knowledge of
the requirements and compliance issues of international transport of dangerous goods. The course will cover the
current International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG), Edition 16, and the new and important changes in
Amendment 38-16. In addition to discussion of the IMDG Code, the attendees will participate in group activities
and various case studies that will enhance their learning process.

Who Should Attend

In accordance with the IMDG Code Chapter 1.3, shore-based personnel engaged in shipping dangerous
goods intended for transport by sea, must be trained in dangerous goods provisions relevant to their job function
and responsibilities including those who:
• classify dangerous goods
• pack dangerous goods
• mark or label dangerous goods
• load or unload Cargo Transport Units (truck trailer, rail road/portable tank, freight container)
• prepare transport documentation for dangerous goods
• offer dangerous goods for transport
• accept dangerous goods for transport
• handle dangerous goods in-transport
• prepare dangerous goods load and stowage plans
• load and unload dangerous goods into and from ships
• enforce or survey or inspect for compliance with applicable rules and regulations or
• otherwise involved in transporting dangerous goods determined by competent authorities

• Know the responsibilities placed on personnel in the dangerous goods transportation business
• Apply the requirements of the IMDG Code in daily work processes and comply with the regulations in performing
