SUMMARY:Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nOur flgship course covers both fundamental and advanced methods of subsurface mapping that have been used by\nthe most proficient exploration and development geoscientists in the industry\, as well as an introduction to some of the more recent advances in interpretation. Mapping techniques\, examples and exercises for extensional and compressional tectonic settings are the core of the course. Diapiric and strike-slip faulted structures are also discussed. In addition\, volumetric mapping is presented as well as some of the numerous pitfalls in reservoir volume determinations using isochore maps. \nThis course provides the applied\, hands-on knowledge required to generate sound subsurface maps. Subsurface geologic maps are the most important and widely used documents in petroleum exploration and development. Geoscientists and engineers are expected to understand and be able to efficiently and accurately generate many types of subsurface maps. Nevertheless\, many geoscientists have not had sufficient formal training in the fundamental principles and methods that underlie accurately constructed subsurface maps\, whether the data source is a seismic interpretation\, well log correlation or both. Participants of this course will receive the Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping with Structural Methods 2nd Edition textbook (2003) and a lab manual with exercises. \nWho Should Attend\nGeologists\, geophysicists\, engineers\, managers and support staff involved in exploration or development. \nKey Learning Objectives\n\nUnderstand the application of different hand contouring and the pitfalls of selected computer contouring methods.\nCapability of integrating fault data from well logs and seismic data.\nGenerate fault surface interpretations and maps.\nUnderstand the construction and application of various types of cross sections.\nGenerate net pay isochore maps for both bottom and edge water reservoirs.\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Clastic Reservoir Delineation and Reserve Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThe class uses modern analogues\, outcrops\, and existing fields to examine the depositional elements and processes\nthat control the distribution of reservoir facies within each of the various clastic depositional systems. With this\nunderstanding of how and where the reservoir facies are deposited\, interpreters can defie the reservoir architecture\nof a play\, prospect\, or fild and make relatively accurate estimations of the hydrocarbon resources and reserves contained in those reservoirs. \nWho Should Attend\nE&P professionals involved in the exploration and exploitation of clastic reservoirs. The course will be particularly useful for professionals early in their career and experienced professionals new to working with clastic reservoirs. \nKey Learning Objectives\n\nUnderstand the fundamentals of reserve assessment and reporting.\nUnderstand the basics of correlating well logs in clastic sequences utilizing shale and resistivity markers\, interval thickness\, sequence stacking patterns and cross sections.\nReview the fundamental controls that influence clastic depositional systems\nUnderstanding of the lateral and vertical reservoir distribution\, reservoir characteristics and connectivity of\nbraided\, meandering\, anastomosing\, and entrenched river systems.\nUnderstanding of the lateral and vertical reservoir distribution\, reservoir characteristics and connectivity of alluvial fans\, deltas\, and submarine fan systems\nImproved ability to construct accurate sand percent maps for reservoir prediction\, and net sand and net pay isochore maps for accurate reservoir characterization and reserve assessment.\nLearn how to read a core and interpret the depositional environment\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA
