SUMMARY:Advanced Basin Analysis (Africa)
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis advanced case-study led course is designed to teach participants a process for rapidly screening frontier basin opportunities with minimal data\, with most case studies from African and Atlantic style rifts and passive margins. Three day modules cover the essentials of basin classification and tectonostratigraphic analysis\, the prediction of petroleum system elements (reservoir\, source rocks and seals) and the presentation of a workflow with which the prospects of a basin can be rapidly assessed. The most recent world’s frontier discoveries are reviewed in their basin context and key elements are recognised that will identify the frontier discoveries of the future. The lectures are interspersed with numerous case studies analysing the regional controls on the main global discoveries of the last decade\, some of which will be run as group discussions and guided exercises. This will expand the participants’ knowledge bank of key analogues that can be used to identify and risk new plays in their own regions of interest. \nWho Should Attend\nGeologists and geophysicists or exploration managers that are involved in the assessment of new exploration opportunities and new country entry\, particularly if working on rifts and or passive margins such as Atlantic margin\nbasins. The course contents are on intermediate/advanced level and a basic knowledge of petroleum geology and\nin particular of petroleum systems is required. \n\nBasin Management & Analyst\nExploration & Development Department\nGeologists\nGeophysicists\nGeoscientists\nPetroleum Engineers\nReservoir Engineers\nDrilling Engineers\nRisk Management\nResearch & Development\nProject Support & Services\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nParticipants will learn how to rapidly differentiate prospective from non-prospective basins using a series of key tools and techniques\, even in situations where they have limited data and knowledge.\nParticipants will learn how to rapidly compile a number of key diagrams within a workflow that synthesises the key tectonic and other basin-wide controls on prospectivity.\nThey will particularly learn the essentials of working petroleum systems in Africa and in the Central and South Atlantic\nThey will acquire check-lists of the parameters which most frequently cause basins to succeed or fail\, that they will be able to use in data rooms and in the assessment of licence or farming blocks.\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Petroleum Fluids and Source Rocks in E&P
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nIn petroleum geology\, Source rocks are important as they are rocks from which Oil and gas have been generated or are capable of being generated. This makes them vital in a working petroleum system as subsurface source rock mapping method make it possible to identify likely zones of petroleum occurrences in sedimentary basins and shale gas. Quality of source rocks are determined by factors such as total organic carbon present in the source rocks\, proportions of individual kerogens and prevalence of long-chain hydrocarbon.Thus\, for oil and gas companies to maximise exploration and production projects they must be proficient in identifying and searching for source rocks. \nWho Should Attend\n\nExploration geologist\nGeochemist\nGeophysics professionals such as geophysics researchers\nAll geoscientist involved in Exploration and production\n*some knowledge of Geology is needed\n\nKey Learning Objectives\n\nEasy evaluation of petroleum source rocks\nPrediction of petroleum source rock presence and type\nAnalysis of petroleum fluids\nUse of geochemistry in exploration and production\nPrediction of petroleum fluids by basin modelling\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Petroleum Geology of the South and Central Atlantic
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis advanced practical course teaches the essentials of play fairway common risk segment mapping a technique now routinely applied in the most successful oil companies to focus on opportunities most worthy of investment and most likely to deliver success. The early parts of the course focus on how to synthesize data on the key risks affecting exploration so that key observations and interpretations can be synthesized in the drawing of play fairway maps. The second\, more practical\, portion of the course includes exercises in drawing and integrating common risk segment maps\, all based on a real frontier licence round situation and on ‘cheap’ public domain data. This is then fed through to a licence round recommendation and to a yet-to-find analysis. Participants may use their own companies colour schemes for play fairway analysis or may adopt a scheme used by the presenter. \nWho Should Attend\nGeologists and geophysicists or exploration managers that are involved in the assessment of new exploration opportunities and new country entry. This is an advanced level course and a basic knowledge of petroleum geology and in particular of petroleum systems is required. It would be helpful\, but not vital\, if participants have attended ‘Advanced Basin Analysis’\, a course that immediately percedes this one. \n\nGeologists\nGeophysicists\nGeoscientists\nExploration Managers\nExploration & Development Department\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nLearn how to rapidly synthesize a regional database into a suite of ocloured ‘Common Risk Segment’ maps to use these to identify the regions and blocks of highest potential in any basin. \nLearn how to save their companies millions of dollars in data acquisition costs by rapidly focusing on the most prospective parts of basins unsing public domain data.\nLearn how to deal with both risk and uncertainity and be able to cope with both good and poor datasets. \nLearn a methodology for rapidly screening acreage so as to respond to short term datelines such as license rounds.\nLearn how to extend the play fairway analysis into a ‘yet to find’ analysis assessing the remaining reserves in any basin\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA
