SUMMARY:TUV PHRA Training: TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer Process Hazard and Risk Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Why Choose this Training Course\nThis TUV PHRA training course focuses on the early lifecycle phases of hazard and risk analysis up to\, and including\, the development of the Safety Requirements Specification (SRS) for process\, oil & gas\, petrochemical and chemical industries according to IEC 61508 / IEC 61511. \nThis 5-day course comprises 4 days of classroom tuition and practical guidance\, for understanding and mastering the application\, of process hazard analysis and associated risk analysis as required for the early lifecycle phases of Edition 2 IEC 61508 & Edition 2 of IEC 61511 for SIS. We also include many fundamental topics that we know you need to understand\, but are not covered in the standards. Practical exercises will be performed throughout the course based on real-life examples. There is a 5-hour competency examination on the last day. \nWho Should Attend\nProcess Engineers\, Instrument Engineers\, Process Safety and Operations personnel who are involved in maintaining the integrity of their processes\, and are more involved in the early lifecycle phases of functional safety management. \nKey Learning Objectives\nThe topics cover the concepts of identifying hazards using tools such as What-If\, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and HAZard and OPerability (HAZOP). This will be further developed into the analysis of risk and methods of risk reduction to consider the effectiveness of preventative and mitigating layers of protection. The use of preventative safeguarding efficiencies will be introduced for use with the PHA Matrix\, along with the advantages/disadvantages of using the PHA Matrix with different Hazard Analysis methods. \nThe different questioning techniques used by a Hazard study leader to guarantee a systematic study methodology are investigated\, as is the HAZOP flowsheet design\, by considering the use of the HAZOP for specific needs such as LOPA. A LOPA exercise will actually be carried out from the output of the course HAZOP exercise. Consideration of constructing effective nodes will be examined and a better definition will be given to claims of double jeopardy. \nThe TUV PHRA training will introduce participants to the use of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and SIL determination using internationally agreed methods for assessing and quantifying process risk and risk reduction requirements. Delegates will be equipped with the knowledge and methods for undertaking various types of qualitative\, semi-quantified and quantitative risk assessments. \nPractical exercises will be carried out for Semi-Quantitative methods such as risk graph and LOPA. The shortfalls of the quicker methods will be investigated to allow the analyst to appreciate the limitations of screening tools. The most popular semi quantified method\, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)\, will be explored in depth. \nThe effective use of Event Tree Analysis will be looked at in two different forms (Mitigation ETA and Traditional ETA). The TUV PHRA training will focus on how ETA can be used to qualitatively support the analyst in mapping out the various consequences given various events with safeguard success or failure. Analysts can then select those events which generate consequences of interest for which FTA may be required. \nDelegates will also be taken through the requirements for safety management and the framework of a Safety Management System (SMS) for achieving effective process risk management. Best practice for SMS will be investigated with the use of Bow-ties linking the Hazard and its safeguards to the SMS. DESCRIPTION:Why Choose this Training Course\nThis Atlantic petroleum geology training aims at providing participants with the ‘regional picture’ that controls the complex play systems of the Central and South Atlantic using largely unpublished material gathered from the authors own regional work and attendance at scores of conferences on the region\, many organised by himself. By presenting these regional models during the course and in a detailed manual full of palaeotectonic- paleogeographic maps\, stratigraphic charts and play cross-sections\, the course aims to save participants the equivalents of hundreds of thousands of dollars on mantime conducting regional research\, so that they can then concentrate on their own ventures and prospects. Specific attention is paid to the pre-salt plays of the South Atlantic\, and the complex interrelated tectonic\, depositional and geochemical models that are now being unravelled for these plays. Recent well results are reviewed and explained. DESCRIPTION:Why Choose this Training Course\nAs the International Oil and Gas industry matures; competition has intensified as organisations seek different ways in which to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. One response to this has been to adopt a form of ‘risk transfer’ via outsourcing to make another party the ‘bearer’ of risk –i.e. appointing a contractor company that offers a ‘one-stop shop’ solution – to undertake the whole scope of a project by being the main contractor and subsequently managing the entire range of sub-contractor agreements to ensure that the deliverable in question is met in its entirety for the client/end user. \nThese types of contract are often referred to as EPC (Engineering; Procurement and Construction contracts)\, whilst another common name for them is ‘Turnkey’ contracts. If the contract can be executed successfully\, the contractor stands to benefit\, whilst if there are problems and delays\, it is the contractor who may find themselves liable for bearing these costs. \nUnfortunately\, given the scale and scope of this species of commercial contract\, there is a great likelihood that most of the ambit of contractual misfortune in terms of breach; delay; quality issues; HSE compliance and local content issues (to name but a few) will manifest at some point during the project’s lifetime. This EPC contracts training course will furnish delegates with a thorough understanding of the key components and their interactions of an EPC contract and will address issues relative to dispute resolution. Focus is on open dialogue and collective problem solving relative to case examples and class exercises.
