SUMMARY:Risk and Reliability Engineering for Oil and Gas and Petrochemicals
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nAsset / maintenance managers are increasingly faced with situations in which they have to comply with specified risk and reliability targets or have to demonstrate a cost – benefit analysis of their activities. Governments and regulatory bodies are the main actors in setting such levels of the first type in public private partnerships; the current shareholder interests drive the second. Many companies are involved with ISO 5500 Asset management programmes. \nReliability Engineering (RE)\, a sub-branch of Operational Research\, then is advocated to be an appropriate tool. However\, experience shows that the mathematical background of RE in many cases fails to recognise practical situations\, assuming information and operational conditions to be known to such extent that precise\, in-depth analysis is possible. Practical engineers\, generally being risk-aversive\, thus have an easy excuse of shying away from such “advanced scientific techniques” \, relying more on technical insight\, in many cases “gut feeling”. However\, the RE framework\, if properly used\, has proved to be an effective tool in decision support. \nThis workshop aims at such decision makers in the petrochemical area. It will provide the attendants with a substantiated opinion on system characteristics and analysis\, balancing technical insight with theoretical analysis. \nTraining methodology\nThe training will be given as a workshop with formal lectures and interactive exercises. Ample opportunities for discussion and experience sharing will be provided. Practical problems from attendants fit for discussion in class are welcomed. \nWho Should Attend\nThis workshop is designed to be beneficial to all individuals who are involved in maintenance in the oil and gas and petrochemical industry. Job titles include but are not limited to \n\nMaintenance Engineers/Supervisors/Managers\nOperations Engineers/Supervisors/Managers\nProduction Engineers/Supervisors/Managers\nProject Engineers/Supervisors/Managers\nLogistics co-ordinators\nPlanners\nPlant Manager/ Asset Manager\n\nBenefits of Attending\n\nTransform the vision of your organisation from maintenance support to Asset Management\nDeal with decisions requiring a proper understanding of chance and risk\nAnalyse system configurations in terms of potential production in relation with reliability and maintenance characteristics\nTo select and apply appropriate Reliability and Maintenance engineering methods (FMECA\, RBD\, FTA\, RCM\, RBM\, CBM) given available information\nSelect and store field information to steer and secure this management process\nUnderstand the methods that contribute to asset performance\, and that interact with and support each other\n\n  \nEndorsed By:

SUMMARY:Prioritizing Data and Information Management for Operations
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nIn the oil and gas industry\, organizations must apply new technologies and processes that will capture and transform raw data into actionable insight to improve asset value and yield while enhancing safety\, reducing risk\, and protecting the environment. One of the challenges the industry faces is “data democratization\,” or making validated data available to decision-makers across several departments\, functions or disciplines in a way that supports meaningful business decisions. Often\, data is in silos or closed systems\, and not easily accessible. This course gives participants hands-on techniques for breaking down those barriers and making data available to decision makers. \nIn today’s “lower for longer” oil price environment\, mission critical data is as likely to come from operational production\, facilities engineering or drilling logistics groups as it had previously from geology\, geophysics and reservoir engineering. This course draws case studies and examples from all the information on how hydrocarbons flow from the reservoir\, through the well and production facilities\, to the sales point. Better data analysis can help oil and gas companies boost production and improved use of data results in better up-time. \n  \nWho Should Attend:\nThis course is designed for professionals whose role is linked to operational data management and include job titles such as: \n\nData managers\nData analysis\nData technicians\nDocument Managers\nFacilities data managers and technicians\nEngineering records managers\nEnd users of operational\, facilities and engineering data\nAsset team data managers\nIndustry content providers\nTechnical assistants working with operational data\nData Architects\nTechnical librarians for asset teams\nSurface data content managers\nOperational information managers\n\n\nKey Learning Points Include:\n• Manage data as an asset with standard procedures\n• Learn how an organization analyses and oversees maintenance of operational data information stores and solutions\n• Examine how organizations apply quality management methods to assess\, improve and assure fitness for business use in operational data in     accordance with industry and organizational business rules\n• Communicate operational aspects and value in a clear and timely manner to align with business strategy\n• Apply policies\, practices\, and procedures used in operational master data management and compliance\n• Execute policies and processes for operational data security management\n• Use coordinates and mapping to accurately represent the position of operational assets \n  \nEndorsed by: \n   \n  \n  \n \nOur definitive portal\, The Power Times provides information and news on power generation\, transmission and distribution entities. SUMMARY:Prioritizing Data and Information Management for Operations
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nOverview\nIn the oil and gas industry\, organizations must apply new technologies and processes that will capture and transform raw data into actionable insight to improve asset value and yield while enhancing safety\, reducing risk\, and protecting the environment. \n  \nWho Should Attend:\nThis course is designed for professionals whose role is linked to operational data management and include job titles such as: \n\nData managers\nData analysis\nData technicians\nDocument Managers\nFacilities data managers and technicians\nEngineering records managers\nEnd users of operational\, facilities and engineering data\nAsset team data managers\nIndustry content providers\nTechnical assistants working with operational data\nData Architects\nTechnical librarians for asset teams\nSurface data content managers\nOperational information managers\n\n\nKey Learning Points Include:\n• Manage data as an asset with standard procedures\n• Learn how an organization analyses and oversees maintenance of operational data information stores and solutions\n• Examine how organizations apply quality management methods to assess\, improve and assure fitness for business use in operational data in    accordance with industry and organizational business rules\n• Communicate operational aspects and value in a clear and timely manner to align with business strategy\n• Apply policies\, practices\, and procedures used in operational master data management and compliance\n• Execute policies and processes for operational data security management\n• Use coordinates and mapping to accurately represent the position of operational assets \n  \nEndorsed by: \n   \n nbsp; \n  \n \nOur definitive portal\, The Power Times provides information and news on power generation\, transmission and distribution entities. SUMMARY:Advanced Hazop
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThe module is designed to cover the essential elements for all safety\, operations\, engineering and managerial personnel with the responsibility for carrying out and participating in HAZOPS. It identifies potentially hazardous failures in a systematic\, thorough and creative way using guidewords to determine what can go wrong outside the design envelope. The course will be of use to a wide range of disciplines whether in design\, development\, production\, maintenance or a safety/ environmental role. People in all these disciplines regularly lead\, or are involved in HAZOP studies. \n \n\nKey Learning Points:\nA HAZOP study identifies hazards and operability problems. The concept involves investigating how the plant might deviate from the design intent. If\, in the process of identifying problems during a HAZOP study\, a solution becomes apparent\, it is recorded as part of the HAZOP result; however\, care must be taken to avoid trying to find solutions which are not so apparent\, because the prime objective for the HAZOP is problem identification. Although the HAZOP study was developed to supplement experience based practices when a new design or technology is involved\, its use has expanded to almost all phases of a plant's life. HAZOP is based on the principle that several experts with different backgrounds can interact and identify more problems when working together than when working separately and combining their results. This module explains the key principles and methodologies associated with executing a HAZOP study.

SUMMARY:Life Cycle Asset And Maintenance Management
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThe total cost of ownership of an asset is often far greater than the initial capital outlay cost and can vary significantly between the different alternative solutions to an operational need. Consideration of the costs over the whole life of an asset provides a sound basis for decision-making. With this information\, it is possible to:- \n\nAssess future resource requirements\nUncover potential costs of potential acquisitions\nDecide between sources of supply\nAccount for resources used now or in the past\nImprove system design\nOptimise operational and maintenance support\, through more detailed understanding of input requirements over the expected life cycle\nAssess when assets reach the end of their economic life and if renewal is required\n\nThe life cycle costing process can be simple as a table of expected annual costs or it can be a complex model that allows for the creation of scenarios based on assumptions about future cost drivers. The scope and complexity of the life cycle cost analysis should generally reflect the complexity of the assets under investigation\, the ability to predict future costs and the significance of the future costs to the decision being made by the organisation. \nA life cycle cost analysis involves the analysis of the cost of a system or a component over its entire life span. Typical costs for a system may include: \n\nAcquisition costs\nOperating costs\nCost of failure\nCost of repair\nCost of spares\nDowntime costs\nLoss of production\nMaintenance costs\nCost of corrective maintenance\nCost of preventative maintenance\nCost of predictive maintenance\nDisposal costs\n\nThis course take delegates through the six steps of LCC which are “Problem Definition”\, “Cost Elements definition”\, “System Modelling”\, “Data Collection”\, Cost Profile Development” and “Evaluation”. \n  \nWho Should Attend\n• All plant Engineers engaged in maintenance\, turnarounds and minor projects\n• All project personnel involved in the project design and management\n• Plant financial personnel\n• Contractor personnel involved in plant maintenance and projects \n \n\nKey Learning Points Include:\n• To make plant personnel aware of theimportance of overall equipment availability atthe least cost\n• To share financial principles to enable engineers to arrive at the least cost options in solving technical problems\n• To enable project managers/engineers to justify higher initial cost where lower overall life cycle cost and higher reliability result\n• To make all participants aware of the time value of money and the Cost of Non Conformance (PONC) \n  \nEndorsed by: \n   \n    \n  \n \nOur definitive portal\, The Power Times provides information and news on power generation\, transmission and distribution entities. SUMMARY:New HR Strategies in a Tough Environment
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nA recent Harvard Business Review had on its cover “Is it time to Blow Up HR”. In the journal it indicated many organizations are questioning the value that HR is contributing to their organizations. It seems that most of these questionable HR organizations spend their time in administrative and compliance related activities or in out dated HR practices from decades past. The research is clear that if HR is going to be part of the C Suite 3 of the future (CEO\, CFO and CHRO) then it needs to bring a particular set of capabilities and value to the table. CEO’s know that Businesses don’t create value; people do. In order for Human Resources Leaders to be a player at the table creating value to the C Suite 3 and the organization it needs to understand that organizations are in the age of disruption. The law of the 21st Century is to disrupt or be disrupted. To add value at the table it needs to be able to: \n(1) Set the people agenda – like any other function\, HR must show why the issues it addresses matter to the business and that it has sensible ways to manage them.\n(2) Focus on here and now – it needs to focus on issues that are here and now for the business\, not get bogged down in administrative tasks or be in a position that they don’t understand the business and its potential to be disrupted or to disrupt its industry. \n(3) Practices on Outcomes – HR needs not only a deep understanding of the work place issues but more importantly it needs to bring first rate analytics to help their organizations make sense of their employee data and get the most out of their human capital. They need to be able to predict outcomes and performance of their organizations based on their knowledge of culture and human capital and its fit with the work of the organization. \n(4) Diagnosing Problems – HR needs to be in a position to pinpoint precisely why an organization might not be performing well or meeting its goals and how the age of disruption is being played out in its organization. \n(5) Prescribing actions to add value – HR needs to be prepared to recommend actions that will unlock or create value through the reallocation of human capital or redesigning and aligning the organizations structures and systems in the organization. In the age of disruption it needs to understand the shockwaves and the four reinvention enablers. \n(6) – HR needs to move from being seen as a cost center by the business where the goal is always cut\,cut\,cut. being able to quantify costs and benefits (ROI) turns talent and organizational design choices into decisions. \nNew HR Strategies in Tough Times provides frameworks and tools for HR professionals in build and or increase capabilities in these six critical areas detailed above. These capabilities are beneficial in HR in all industries. A phrase coined many years ago states that organizations are perfectly designed to get the results that they get. Therefore challenging times in the age of distruption call for new thinking. If you could choose one workshop that would make a significance difference in positioning your HR organization to create greater value for your organization this is that workshop. \nWho should attend\nJob Titles of relevant Organizational Leaders in HR and their business partners that can benefit from attending your class: \n\nLeaders charged with the responsibility for HR including human capital strategies to create a competitive advantage for their organization.\nIn HR these are generally your CHRO CPO VP of HR\, CLO (Chief CKO L&OD (Learning & Organization Development)\, VPs\, Directors\, Managers and professionals.\nIdeally organizational leaders would accompany their HR leaders and their titles might range from CEO\, CFO\, COO\, CIO\,CTO\, VP\, Managing Directors\, Directors\, Managers and Team leaders.\n\n\nKey Learning Points\n9 bullet points on what participants can learn from the New HR Strategies in Tough Times: \n\n They will learn about the shockwaves that cause disruptions in businesses environments and the blindfolds that cause leaders to be unaware of what is happening around them. They will learn that the law of the 21st century is to disrupt or be disrupted and what are the reinvention enablers that HR leaders can use to navigate this white water.\nThey will learn that “organizations are perfectly designed to get the results that they get” and how to use the Organizational Systems Design (OSD) model to help them diagnose people problems in their organizations and prescribe actions to unlock and create value.\nThey will learn how to identify and categorize the organization’s business processes in order to create a differentiation strategy that will create unique value for their organization.\nThey will learn how to identify and develop high performance teams for their organization that can create a competitive advantage for them.\nThey will learn how to identify and develop a “leadership” brand for their organization that can create a competitive advantage for them.\nKnowledge has become a direct competitive advantage for most organizations. They will learn how to obtain the most beneficial use of employees' knowledge and abilities and create a competitive advantage.\nThey will learn the principles and tools for capturing the hearts and minds of their human capital to enhance their engagement\nThey will learn methodologies on how to predict outcomes and highlight financial benefits as a way to add value to their organizations.\n

Typical costs for a system may include: \n\n Acquisition costs\nOperating costs\nCost of failure\nCost of repair\nCost of spares\nDowntime costs\nLoss of production\nMaintenance costs\nCost of corrective maintenance\nCost of preventative maintenance\nCost of predictive maintenance\nDisposal costs\n\nThis course take delegates through the six steps of LCC which are “Problem Definition”\, “Cost Elements definition”\, “System Modelling”\, “Data Collection”\, Cost Profile Development” and “Evaluation”. \n  \nWho Should Attend\n• All plant Engineers engaged in maintenance\, turnarounds and minor projects\n• All project personnel involved in the project design and management\n• Plant financial personnel\n• Contractor personnel involved in plant maintenance and projects \n\nKey Learning Points Include:\n• To make plant personnel aware of theimportance of overall equipment availability atthe least cost\n• To share financial principles to enable engineers to arrive at the least cost options in solving technical problems\n• To enable project managers/engineers to justify higher initial cost where lower overall life cycle cost and higher reliability result\n• To make all participants aware of the time value of money and the Cost of Non Conformance (PONC) \n  \nEndorsed by: \n   \n  \n  \n \nOur definitive portal\, The Power Times provides information and news on power generation\, transmission and distribution entities.
