The world is changing and the need for electricity continues to grow as power generation markets continue to evolve and demand continues (in many parts of the world) to outstrip available supply – although still a major source\, the role of fossil fuels is beginning to diminish as focus starts to shift towards other alternative ‘cleaner’ forms of energy(renewables) such as wind; solar; tidal or hydro. As power generation infrastructure continues to grow through the investment of both governments and private organisations\, the central enabling mechanism is the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This is the contract that enables entities such as utilities to contract with privately-owned power generation projects and to purchase electricity from them (Offtakers). Constructing power generation facilities and supporting infrastructure is an expensive business – hence the PPA will provide a modicum of certainty to principle participants as to the execution of the EPC contract\, the repayment of the debt\, the amount of resource provided and the longevity of supply. This is an advanced level play fairway training course and participants would benefit from previous attendance at our Advanced Basin Analysis course\, though this is not vital. \nThis advanced practical play fairway training course teaches the essentials of play fairway common risk segment mapping a technique now routinely applied in the most successful oil companies to focus on opportunities most worthy of investment and most likely to deliver success. The early parts of the course focus on how to synthesize data on the key risks affecting exploration so that key observations and interpretations can be synthesized in the drawing of play fairway maps. The second\, more practical\, portion of the course includes exercises in drawing and integrating common risk segment maps\, all based on a real frontier licence round situation and on ‘cheap’ public domain data. \nThis is then fed through to a licence round recommendation and to a yet-to-find analysis. DESCRIPTION:Why Choose this Training Course\nThis 2-day LOPA training workshop is intended to take students through the fundamental principles of performing Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA). It will provide clear guidance on Independent Protective Layers (IPL) and the rules for determining the ‘independence of different’ layers. Active\, passive and procedural protective layers will be examined along with the required rules for taking credit for any risk reduction measure. \nThe rules for taking credit for basic process control systems (BPCS) loops will be explained along with taking credit for multiple BPCS loops. Examples of how to BPCS loops should be physically connected to form IPLs will also be provided.
