SUMMARY:Petroleum Fluids and Source Rocks in E&P
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nIn petroleum geology\, Source rocks are important as they are rocks from which Oil and gas have been generated or are capable of being generated. This makes them vital in a working petroleum system as subsurface source rock mapping method make it possible to identify likely zones of petroleum occurrences in sedimentary basins and shale gas. Quality of source rocks are determined by factors such as total organic carbon present in the source rocks\, proportions of individual kerogens and prevalence of long-chain hydrocarbon.Thus\, for oil and gas companies to maximise exploration and production projects they must be proficient in identifying and searching for source rocks. \nWho Should Attend\n\nExploration geologist\nGeochemist\nGeophysics professionals such as geophysics researchers\nAll geoscientist involved in Exploration and production\n*some knowledge of Geology is needed\n\nKey Learning Objectives\n\nEasy evaluation of petroleum source rocks\nPrediction of petroleum source rock presence and type\nAnalysis of petroleum fluids\nUse of geochemistry in exploration and production\nPrediction of petroleum fluids by basin modelling\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Petroleum Geology of the South and Central Atlantic
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis advanced practical course teaches the essentials of play fairway common risk segment mapping a technique now routinely applied in the most successful oil companies to focus on opportunities most worthy of investment and most likely to deliver success. The early parts of the course focus on how to synthesize data on the key risks affecting exploration so that key observations and interpretations can be synthesized in the drawing of play fairway maps. The second\, more practical\, portion of the course includes exercises in drawing and integrating common risk segment maps\, all based on a real frontier licence round situation and on ‘cheap’ public domain data. This is then fed through to a licence round recommendation and to a yet-to-find analysis. Participants may use their own companies colour schemes for play fairway analysis or may adopt a scheme used by the presenter. \nWho Should Attend\nGeologists and geophysicists or exploration managers that are involved in the assessment of new exploration opportunities and new country entry. This is an advanced level course and a basic knowledge of petroleum geology and in particular of petroleum systems is required. It would be helpful\, but not vital\, if participants have attended ‘Advanced Basin Analysis’\, a course that immediately percedes this one. \n\nGeologists\nGeophysicists\nGeoscientists\nExploration Managers\nExploration & Development Department\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nLearn how to rapidly synthesize a regional database into a suite of ocloured ‘Common Risk Segment’ maps to use these to identify the regions and blocks of highest potential in any basin. \nLearn how to save their companies millions of dollars in data acquisition costs by rapidly focusing on the most prospective parts of basins unsing public domain data.\nLearn how to deal with both risk and uncertainity and be able to cope with both good and poor datasets. \nLearn a methodology for rapidly screening acreage so as to respond to short term datelines such as license rounds.\nLearn how to extend the play fairway analysis into a ‘yet to find’ analysis assessing the remaining reserves in any basin\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Advanced Basin Analysis (Africa)
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis advanced case-study led course is designed to teach participants a process for rapidly screening frontier basin opportunities with minimal data\, with most case studies from African and Atlantic style rifts and passive margins. Three day modules cover the essentials of basin classification and tectonostratigraphic analysis\, the prediction of petroleum system elements (reservoir\, source rocks and seals) and the presentation of a workflow with which the prospects of a basin can be rapidly assessed. The most recent world’s frontier discoveries are reviewed in their basin context and key elements are recognised that will identify the frontier discoveries of the future. The lectures are interspersed with numerous case studies analysing the regional controls on the main global discoveries of the last decade\, some of which will be run as group discussions and guided exercises. This will expand the participants’ knowledge bank of key analogues that can be used to identify and risk new plays in their own regions of interest. \nWho Should Attend\nGeologists and geophysicists or exploration managers that are involved in the assessment of new exploration opportunities and new country entry\, particularly if working on rifts and or passive margins such as Atlantic margin\nbasins. The course contents are on intermediate/advanced level and a basic knowledge of petroleum geology and\nin particular of petroleum systems is required. \n\nBasin Management & Analyst\nExploration & Development Department\nGeologists\nGeophysicists\nGeoscientists\nPetroleum Engineers\nReservoir Engineers\nDrilling Engineers\nRisk Management\nResearch & Development\nProject Support & Services\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nParticipants will learn how to rapidly differentiate prospective from non-prospective basins using a series of key tools and techniques\, even in situations where they have limited data and knowledge.\nParticipants will learn how to rapidly compile a number of key diagrams within a workflow that synthesises the key tectonic and other basin-wide controls on prospectivity.\nThey will particularly learn the essentials of working petroleum systems in Africa and in the Central and South Atlantic\nThey will acquire check-lists of the parameters which most frequently cause basins to succeed or fail\, that they will be able to use in data rooms and in the assessment of licence or farming blocks.\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Risk and Reliability Engineering for Operational Excellence
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nAsset / maintenance managers are increasingly faced with situations in which they have to comply with specified risk and reliability targets or have to demonstrate a cost – benefit analysis of their activities. Governments and regulatory bodies are the main actors in setting such levels of the first type in public private partnerships; the current shareholder interests drive the second. Many companies are involved with ISO 5500 Asset management programmes. \nReliability Engineering (RE)\, a sub-branch of Operational Research\, then is advocated to be an appropriate tool. However\, experience shows that the mathematical background of RE in many cases fails to recognise practical situations\, assuming information and operational conditions to be known to such extent that precise\, in-depth analysis is possible. Practical engineers\, generally being risk-aversive\, thus have an easy excuse of shying away from such “advanced scientific techniques”\, relying more on technical insight\, in many cases “gut feeling”. However\, the RE framework\, if properly used\, has proved to be an effective tool in decision support.  \nWho Should Attend\nThis workshop is designed to be beneficial to all individuals who are involved in maintenance in the oil and gas and petrochemical industry. SUMMARY:ALARP Principles & Guidelines
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nRisk reduction measures are required to be demonstrated in Safety Case as per Singapore WSH (MHI) Regulations. One of the key components of Safety Case is to demonstrate risk reduction to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) level by adopting and implementing control measures. Therefore\, there is a need to understand the use of these principles with respect to the level of uncertainty and on the risk criteria. In this case-study led workshop\, delegates will be taught on the key concepts\, and approaches taken to demonstrate or provide evidence on ALARP. \nThis course covers the important principles of ALARP. It discusses the variability of ALARP requirements for managing similar hazards in different circumstances and the application of risk targets. It looks at different ways of assessing risk from quantified approaches to qualitative approaches for both consequence and frequency analysis and when to use these. The application of inherent safety principles and recognised good practice are discussed along with Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and the concepts of reasonably practicable and disproportionality. Besides demonstrating ALARP in the Safety Case\, ALARP should be applied throughout the life cycle of any facility. \nThis workshop will touch on how to apply the concept in different situations such as during design\, specifying instrumented safety systems\, operating procedures\, and coverage during maintenance of safety critical equipment. Several case studies are presented for the delegates to work through and a discussion on common errors and how the concept is often misused. Throughout this workshop\, participants will be taught on how to prove that ALARP has been properly implemented as part of effective risk management and how ALARP is implemented in the design\, development\, and operation of engineering systems. \nWho Should Attend\nEngineers\, Executives\, Supervisors\, and Managers especially those who work in Technical & Planning\, Production/Operation\, Engineering\, and SHE departments in Refinery\, Chemicals\, and Petrochemical settings will benefit by attending this course. \n\nPotential attendees are: \n\nProcess Engineer\nProcess Champion\nEHS Engineer\nProduction Engineer\nProduction Supervisor\nMaintenance Engineer\nOperations Engineer\nMechanical Engineer\nPiping Engineer\nProduction Manager\nTechnical Manager\nTechnical Development Manager\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nLearn the essential principles of ALARP and how it fits within a Safety Case\nGain the key concepts of ALARP principles and the fundamental approaches for its applications\nKnow the HSE principles for CBA in support of ALARP decisions\nUnderstand the approaches to good practice and to demonstrate ALARP using different decision making criteria\nAcquire tools and techniques to determine factors in selecting or rejecting control measures\nWith each process deviation\, apply the concept of ALARP or risk elimination on the causes and consequences\nBecome familiar with PHA study\, its context in WSH Act and its relation in Safety Case regime\nExercise caution in regards to reverse ALARP whereby CBA or QRA is used to justify higher risk\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Geophysical Data Management For the Oil & Gas Sector
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nExploration and Production (E&P) companies realize the importance of good technical data and the role which it plays in the exploration success. Geoscientists and engineers focus on maximizing hydrocarbon extraction by understanding and exploiting field geological and formations data. To achieve their challenging goals\, they use sophisticated software to perform virtual field characterizations and analysis which generates terabytes of valuable intellectual data and information. This is one example\, and there are many more by which new data is being generated and stored each day. Companies are investing into hardware and software to tackle these problems but lack the basic guide lines or policies to manage the growing data volume. This has led to even more problems and waste of valuable resources and funds. One of the key requirements for E&P companies is to have a well-defined data management strategy.  \nWho Should Attend\n\nUpstream personnel\nIT\nAdmin\nHR\nNon-geoscience personnel\n*There are no technical prerequisites for this course besides having more than 3 years’ work experience and a higher education diploma\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nWhat is Data Management\, why it is important\, understanding of data as an asset\, its lifecycle\, benefits of good Data Management\, and its potential value\nThe core data types in the E&P industry and valuable best practices for them\nCommon Data Management issues and challenges\, and the impact on the business\nThe important components of a Data Management framework\nHow to map issues onto a Data Management framework\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n

SUMMARY:ALARP Principles & Guidelines
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nOne of the key components of Safety Case is to demonstrate risk reduction to ALARP level by adopting and implementing control measures. Therefore\, there is a need to understand the use of these principles with respect to the level of uncertainty and on the risk criteria. \nIn this case-study led workshop\, delegates will be taught on the key concepts\, and approaches taken to demonstrate or provide evidence on ALARP. The idea behind ALARP is to demonstrate risk reductions in MHI based on reasonable practicability and gross disproportion\, which is a balancing act between cost and risk. As far as the application of numerical risk criteria is concerned\, it is not always correct and thus the demonstration of ALARP and the usage of risk criteria should be justified based on the categorization of risk which may be either qualitative\, semi-quantitative\, or quantitative. \nMany countries regulate Major Hazard sites using a safety case regime based on a risk-based approach to process safety; Singapore is rolling out such a regime as mentioned. These regimes require that risk is controlled to ALARP (As Low AS Reasonably Practicable) level which is a very different approach to safety management than the compliance approach that many operators are familiar with. This course covers the important principles of ALARP\, which is a commonly misunderstood concept. It discusses the variability of ALARP requirements for managing similar hazards in different circumstances and the application of risk targets. It looks at different ways of assessing risk from quantified approaches to qualitative approaches for both consequence and frequency analysis and when\nto use these.

SUMMARY:Petroleum Geology of the South and Central Atlantic
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nUnderstand the regional controls underpinning some of the world’s key frontier exploration provinces in the South and Central Atlantic. Save considerable time in your own researches in these regions. Learn how to assess the key factors controlling exploration success and failure in the region and in particular the complications involved in identifying pre-salt and turbidite plays. Acquire a methodology to assess opportunities through a petroleum systems ‘checklist’ approach\, with attention to key issues such as tectonic history\, heat flow\, reservoir quality and petroleum generation history.  \nWho Should Attend\nGeologists and geophysicists or exploration managers that are involved in the assessment of new exploration opportunities\, acreage and prospects in the Central or South Atlantic. This is an advanced level course and a basic knowledge of petroleum geology and in particular of petroleum systems is required. \n\nExploration & Development Department\nGeologists\nGeophysicists\nExploration Managers\nGeoscientists\nPetroleum Engineers\n\nKey Learning Objectives\n\nParticipants will be provided with the regional picture controlling prospectivity in pre-salt\, rift and post rift/salt plays\, enabling them to concentrate in their own work on local and prospect specific issues\nParticipants will learn how the tectonic and heat flow history of the region\, and in particular processes preceding and during continental break-up\, control the prospectivity of the South and Central Atlantic\nSpecific attention is given to the complex controls on pre-salt plays on both sides of the Atlantic. Participants will learn how to screen for both pre-salt clastic and carbonate plays and avoid regions with downgrading influences such as early high heat flow and gas generation.\nFor post-salt plays the key objective is to learn how to screen for thick effective reservoirs though the understanding of regional sediment/ reservoir supply and integrate this with seismic attribute analysis.\nParticipants will learn how to apply ‘dataroom checklists’ to rapidly assess opportunities presented to them in this region\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Advanced Fire and Explosion Investigation
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nA US Chemical Safety Board study found 26 explosions and fires since 1983 at conventional oil and gas sites that killed 44 members of the public and injured 25 others. The percentage of death caused by fire and gas explosions while a small percentage\, is certainly unacceptable\, and industry safety should be a no. 1 priority. \nMeasures have been adopted throughout the industry to prevent fires and explosions\, such as better design standards\, gas detectors\, strict control of potential ignition sources\, rigid smoking restrictions and new firefighting equipment. Fire and gas explosion investigation continues to be of paramount importance to understand what could go wrong and how to prevent past fatalities from happening. \nWho Should Attend\nPersonnel involved in HSE\, Risk and Safety\, Fire Safety\, Process Safety or others involved in the fire and gas safety and investigation. \nKey Learning Points\n\nApply a systematic approach to fre and gas explosion investigation\nRelating fire investigations to the scientific method\nUnderstand fire science and fire patterns\nOrganise investigation functions effectively and have proper documentation of scene\nExamine possible ignition sources and how to determine the most likely culprit\nConduct preliminary assessment and origin determination\nLearn fire cause determination and the elimination process\nUnderstand Failure Analysis and the use of analytical tools\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n

The course is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of international financial reporting standards as well as apply them.  \nWho Should Attend\n\nStaff in Finance\, treasury\, operations\, risk\, management\, IT or Compliance departments \nCFO\, Finance Directors\nAccountants\, Financial Controllers\nFinancial reporting executives\nTreasurer\nBudget officers/ forecasting specialists\nAuditors\nMerchant/ investment/ corporate bankers\nTax directors/ managers\nInternal and external auditors\nRegulatory staff\nAnalysts\nInvestment managers\n\nKey Learning Objectives\n\nThe course will take a detailed look at the key provisions of IFRS 9\, comparing it to the old provisions in IAS 39 to highlight the changes \nFocus on difference in Scope and Scope exclusions\n\nRecognition principles and application\nFinancial asset classification in terms of application dates and relevant accounting\nDerecognition principles and application\nHedge accounting differences in terms of scope\, conditions\, accounting\, practical examples of hedge effectiveness testing\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Project Scheduling & Risk
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nAll projects need to be planned\, and the project Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule is the most powerful asset in the project planner’s toolset to plan the project\, forecast the project’s key dates and manage the resources assigned. Yet from reviewing many project schedules of oil & gas and construction projects in the commercial sector and in government agency projects such as aerospace\, software and construction we see a wide variation in the capability of the schedulers to put together\, and of management to understand the project schedule. \n\nThis workshop presents the best practices in project scheduling as simply as possible and explains why following them gets the best result. We discuss the key concept of understanding the schedule as a dynamic tool for project management versus a list of dates\, some of which are often imposed on the project from the outside. Still\, projects often overrun their schedules. We may overrun schedules because the schedule is not the idealized perfect schedule but is influenced by forces that lead to an infeasible plan from the beginning. \n\nA main reason that we overrun project schedules is that risk from many sources tends to make the work take longer than planned or add work not in the baseline schedule. Identifying risks and estimating their probability and impact on the schedule will accomplish two key goals: (1) developing a realistic view of when the project finishes following the current plan\, and (2) identifying the key risk drivers for risk mitigation and hence better project performance. \n\nOrganizations are increasingly requiring schedule risk analysis in advance of key decision points to make sure they have a realistic view of their project’s timeline. They realize there is something beyond the static CPM schedule. Building on a well-structured schedule\, risk analysis provides a view of the project’s timeline in an uncertain world\, very common in oil and gas projects. We will discuss experience with offshore installations\, refinery and other on-shore facilities and pipelines during this course. \nWho Should Attend\nDirectors\, Managers\, Engineers\, Heads of: \n\nPlanning & Scheduling\nProjects\nCost Control\n\nKey Learning Objectives\n\nLEARN what to expect from your Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule\nUNDERSTAND the common errors in project scheduling and how to avoid or fix them\nMASTER the basics of project scheduling and progress to advanced concepts\nIDENTIFY and deal with the common cultural and individual biases in scheduling\nFIND OUT the 10 Best Practices of project scheduling\nDISCOVER the limitations of static CPM scheduling and why believing in the schedule can lead to trouble\nEXAMINE why Schedule Risk Analysis adds to your understanding of the project’s timeline\nKNOW how to identify risks to the project schedule\nANALYZE how the corporate culture makes it diffcult to address schedule risk directly\nLEARN what should we tell the customer or other stakeholders about the project’s completion date\nGAIN INSIGHT on how do we estimate an appropriate schedule contingency reserve of time\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA

\nWho Should Attend\nEngineers\, Executives\, Supervisors\, and Managers especially those who work in Technical & Planning\, Production/Operation\, Engineering\, and SHE departments in Refinery\, Chemicals\, and Petrochemical settings will benefit by attending this course.\nPotential attendees are: \n\nProcess Engineer\nProcess Champion\nEHS Engineer\nProduction Engineer\nProduction Supervisor\nMaintenance Engineer\nOperations Engineer\nMechanical Engineer\nPiping Engineer\nProduction Manager\nTechnical Manager\nTechnical Development Manager\n\nKey Learning Points\n\nLearn the essential principles of ALARP and how it fits within a Safety Case\nGain the key concepts of ALARP principles and the fundamental approaches for its applications\nKnow the HSE principles for CBA in support of ALARP decisions\nUnderstand the approaches to good practice and to demonstrate ALARP using different decision making criteria\nAcquire tools and techniques to determine factors in selecting or rejecting control measures\nWith each process deviation\, apply the concept of ALARP or risk elimination on the causes and consequences\nBecome familiar with PHA study\, its context in WSH Act and its relation in Safety Case regime\nExercise caution in regards to reverse ALARP whereby CBA or QRA is used to justify higher risk\n\nEnquiry Form\n\n \n \n SalutationMr.Miss.Mrs.Mdm.Dr.Prof.Capt.Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n PhoneEmail\n \n CompanyAdditional Comments:CAPTCHA
