Offshore oil and gas operation is one of most challenging engineering operation. Offshore oil and gas operation by its first nature are: remote and hazardous. As Safety being the most important aspect of engineering design decision-making, it is paramount to all concern engineers understand it the best. Offshore safety is assessed and designed for in the form risk factor. Assessing and managing risk is part of regulatory requirement as much as it is part of business plan.
Though, engineers in oil and gas industries do use concept of risk in day-to-day design and operation. However, there is significant lack in understanding of fundamentals and more importantly how to assess risk and consider it for decision making. Risk analysis is increasingly used to validate claims for safety/environmental benign characteristics or to demonstrate the need for further improvement.
This short course aims to provide detailed understanding of offshore safety concepts, risk concept, risk modelling and simulation, and more recent advancement in the field of risk and reliability engineering related to offshore operation. Example from existing and planned offshore operation will dawn to illustrate the concepts and their application.
This workshop will incorporate both theory and practical strategies. The latest educational methods and strategies will be employed.
